Portemilio (Kaslik, Jounieh)last week-end in September, 1984 ; hard courts = 4 Players were scheduled to play : Guilermo Vilas, Victor Pecci , Gilles Moretton (Fr) and Henri Leconte (Fr) in a two-day series of matches organized by Georges Saadé. Leconte, one of the best French players, wary of the civil disturbances, is replaced by Pablo Arraya, and Vilas, by the Chilean Hans Gildemeister. The Frenchman Pascal Portes is added to the small contingent of visitors.

  • Pecci had been the hero of Roland Garros in 1979 when, after beating both Vilas and Connors, world no 2 and 3, he reached the final of the singles and made a match of it against the indestructible Bjorn Borg. Leconte will be in the French Open final in 1988, losing to the Swede Mats Wilander.


1st day = Arraya d Moretton 64 46 62; Pecci d Portes 57 63 60. 2nd day = Pecci d Arraya - In doubles : Pecci-Arraya d Portes-Moretton 63 76.

• In an unprecedented total money purse in Lebanon, the winner won 25 thousand $ and the runner-up 15 thousand, whilst the other two participants got 7 thousand each.
