- Over 1500 spectators packed the western grandstand of Brummana for the Sunday finals, and the prizes ceremony was presided by interior minister Kamal Jumblatt. Even the Saturday Ladies final attracted 1 000 spectators for a thrilling match between the good-looking 2 South African Ladies. Jumblatt might have wanted to emulate Pierre Gemayel's presence at the finals, the year before !!!
- Sandra Reynolds was the finalist at Wimbledon a month before gracing the Brummana courts, losing to world no 1 Maria Bueno 86 60. Reynolds was ranked 3 in the world at the end of 1960 (no 5 in 1961, no 6 or 8 in 1962 , and Renée Schuurman was no 10 in 1960, no 8 or 9 in 1961-62-63.
- Stolle was reported to have been handicapped by a digestion-related fever during his match vs Ayala.
- Luis Ayala had had a fantastic season on European clay that spring, losing both the Italian final in Rome and the French final in Paris/Roland-Garros in 5 sets to US no 1 Barry McKay and the Italian Nicola Pietrangeli. At Wimbledon, Krishnan and Ayala played a superb match in the 1/4s, with Krishnan winning 75 108 62. Because of the quality and subtlety of these two competitors'tennis, All the sports editorialists put this encounter far above the ¼ match between world no 2 and 3, Laver and Emerson.
- Ayala and Krishnan were world ranked no 7 and 8 respectively at the end of the year. Krishnan was a Wimbledon ½ finalist for both years.
- End of year, Sandra Reynolds was world ranked no 3 and Renée Schuurman no 10.
- The week preceding Brummana, Ian Vermaak had won the singles in Istanbul over Stolle, Ayala in 4 sets in the semis and J Ulrich 64 61 119 in the final. Sandra Reynolds won the Ladies singles over her friend Renee Schuurman 86 63, and Krishnan and Ayala spent 3 hours in the doubles final before beating the improbable team of Stolle and Pearce 60 36 46 61 108. Ian Vermaak, runner-up in the Men's singles in 1959 at Roland-Garros, was ranked world no 10 at the beginning of 1960.
- Jorgen Ulrich, as bearded as his older brother Torben, but much more conventional, had won the French Indoors in Paris in 1960, over B Wilson, J Drobny and Billy Knight.
