• Somehow, the Brummana tennis fans were disappointed with the poor performance put up by the Favorite, Drysdale, who was crushed in his match against the energetic Arilla. They smelt some carelessness from a player who had cashed a pretty sum as a guarantee to show up in Lebanon. All the more so, when Drysdale, 10 days later, played top tennis in the US championships, reaching the final in Forest-Hills only to lose to world no 1 Santana.
• Francoise Durr, of the unorthodox style, specially on the backhand side, rose up in the circuit and won the French int'l title in 1967
